The moon was not sighted on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 anywhere in North America. Consequently, Rajab will complete its course of 30 days and Shaban begins at Maghrib on Thursday, July 23, 2009. The 1st of Shaban is Friday, July 24, 2009.
The Chicago Hilal Team will meet on Friday, August 21, 2009 (Shaban 29, 1430) to determine the start of Ramadan, 1430. More information will be provided as the date nears.
