The Chicago Hilal Committee has decided that tomorrow, Saturday, November 29 will be the 1st of Dhul-Hijjah based on an authentic moon sighting report from Port Charlotte, Florida. Dhul-Qadah, 1429 will end with 29 days and Dhul-Hijjah began tonight at Maghrib on Friday, November 28, 2008. The report was validated by several renowned scholars as well as an expert astronomer.
Consequently, Eid-ul-Adha will be on Monday, December 8, 2008 (Dhul-Hijjah 10, 1429). The Chicago Hilal Committee wishes everyone an early Happy Eid.

The Chicago Hilal Committee will meet on Friday, November 28, 2008 (Dhul-Qadah 29, 1429) at the Islamic Center of Chicago after Maghrib (4:30pm CST) to determine the start of Dhul-Hijjah and consequently the date of Eid-ul-Adha. Insha’Allah, the final decision will be posted sometime before the end of the night.
If the moon is sighted on Friday, November 28, Dhul-Hijjah will begin on Saturday, November 29th. Consequently, Eid-ul-Adha will be on Monday, December 8, 2008. If the moon is not sighted, Eid-ul-Adha will be on Tuesday, December 9, 2008.
