Ramadan will begin on Thursday, August 12, 2010. There were no authentic sighting reports from anywhere in North America. Shaban will complete its full cycle of 30 days and Ramadan will begin at Maghrib on Wednesday, August 11th. The 1st day of Ramadan will be on Thursday, August 12, 2010.

Tarawih will begin on the night of Wednesday, August 11, 2010.
Itikaf will begin on the night of Tuesday, August 31, 2010.

The Chicago Hilal Committee will meet on Thursday, September 9, 2010 (Ramadan 29, 1431) to determine the start of Shawwal 1, 1431 (Eid-ul-Fitr). Eid-ul-Fitr will be on either Friday,September 10, 2010 or Saturday, September 11, 2010.

10:15pm:

We are currently waiting sighting reports from the West Coast. We have not received any authentic sighting reports from anywhere in North America. The Chicago Hilal Commitee will decide based on any reports received out of the West Coast.

A final decision on the start of Ramadan will be made around 10:30pm CDT.

9:30pm:

The Chicago Hilal Committee meeting is in session. We have contacted several of our representatives through out North America. We have not received any authentic moon sighting reports as of yet.
