Ramadan 1, 1433 will be Saturday, July 21, 2012. There were no authentic reports from anywhere in North America on Thursday, July 19, 2012 (Shaban 29, 1433). Shaban will complete its course of 30 days and Ramadan 1433 will begin at Maghrib on Friday, July 20th. The 1st of Ramadan will be Saturday, July 21, 2012.

The Chicago Hilal Committee will meet on Saturday, August 18th (Ramadan 29, 1433) to determine the start of Shawwal (Eid-ul-Fitr). If the moon is sighted on Saturday, August 18th, Eid will be on Sunday, August 19th. If the moon is not sighted, Eid will be on Monday, August 20th.

Itikaf will begin on Thursday, August 9th at Maghrib.

Thank you for continuing to adhere to the practice of Rasulullah, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam by following moon sighting. May Allah reward you. We pray you have a very beneficial Ramadan.
