The moon was sighted by a group of 15+ individuals in San Diego, CA. The Chicago Hilal committee directly spoke with a representative from among them and has accepted their sighting. Therefore, the 1st of Ramadan, 1442 will be Tuesday, April 13th inshaAllah. Ramadan Kareem!
8:45pm CDT
No additional reports have come in from the Midwest. We will continue to wait for sunset on the West Coast before making a final determination. The next update will be at between 9:45-10:00 pm CDT

Initial reports coming in from the Midwest including Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis are all negative.
7:15pm CDT
There have been no reports by any of our contacts in the East Coast and the Caribbean thus far. We will continue to wait for any reports to come in from the midwest as the sun continues to set across the North America.
The Chicago Hilal Committee will convene on Monday, April 12th (Shaban 29, 1442) to determine the start of Ramadan 1442, inshaAllah.
We will update this page periodically throughout the evening as reports come through.
Please note, however, that sunset in parts of the west coast will be close to 10:00 PM CDT, so it is possible that a final decision will not be made until 11:00 PM CDT.
