The Chicago Hilal Committee received an authentic moon sighting report from Port Charlotte, Florida. Nearly 10 men witnessed the hilal, including several scholars and huffaz.

The Chicago Hilal Committee’s meeting is in session. We are beginning to contact our representatives through out North America for moon sighting reports. We will post more information as it becomes available. Please check back for periodic updates.

InshAllah, the Chicago Hilal Committee will meet on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the Islamic Center of Chicago to determine the end of Ramadan and the date of Eid-ul-Fitr (Shawwal 1, 1429). There will be periodic updates on this site after Maghrib prayer (6:39pm CDT). The first update will be posted around 7:15pm CDT.
Eid-ul-Fitr 1429 will be on either Wednesday, October 1st or Thursday, October 2nd.
