The moon was sighted in a number of places including Buffalo, NY, Long Island, NY and New Orleans, LA. After proper verification and authentication, it was determined that Eid-ul-Fitr will be tomorrow, Sunday, September 20, 2009. Ramadan will end with 29 days and Shawwal 1, 1430 will be Sunday, September 20th.

9:50pm:

Eid Mubarak. We have authenticated a number of reports. Based on those reports, Ramadan ends tonight, September 19, 2009. Ramadan ends with 29 days and Eid-ul-Fitr/Shawwal 1, 1430 will be on September 20, 2009.

9:40pm:

We are currently trying to authenticate the reports out of the Northeast and South. As of now, we are still unable to authenticate those reports.

We are also contacting our other representatives throughout North America.

8:20pm:

We are aware of the reports out of the Northeast. We are currently trying to authenticate the reports.

7:45pm:

The Chicago Hilal Committee meeting is in session. We are currently contacting our representatives through out North America. We will post a decision as soon as it is made.

3:45pm:

The Chicago Hilal Committee will meet tonight, Saturday, September 19, 2009 (Ramadan 29, 1430) to determine the end of Ramadan/beginning of Shawwal (Eid-ul-Fitr). Eid-ul-Fitr will be on either Sunday, September 20th or Monday, September 21st.
