Eid Mubarak! Shawwal 1,1436 (Eid-ul-fitr) will be on Friday, July 17, 2015. Based upon authentic moon sighting reports, the committee has declared that Ramadan will end with 29 days and Shawwal 1, 1436 will be Friday, July 17, 2015.

7/16/2015:

The Chicago Hilal Committee will meet tonight, Thursday, July 16, 2015 (Ramadan 29, 1436) to determine the start of Shawwal 1436 (Eid-ul-Fitr). Eid-ul-Fitr will be on either  Friday, July 17th or Saturday, July 18th.

7/13/2015:

The Chicago Hilal Committee will meet on Thursday, July 16, 2015 (Ramadan 29, 1436) to determine the start of Shawwal 1436 (Eid-ul-Fitr).

If the moon is sighted on Thursday night within North America or Chile in South America , the 1st of Shawwal (Eid-ul-Fitr) will be Friday, July 17, 2015. If the moon is not sighted on Thursday night, Ramadan will complete its course of 30 days and Shawwal will begin on Saturday, July 18, 2015.

The first updates are expected to occur around 7:30 PM CDT. Updates will be made periodically after that as representatives through out North America and Chile are contacted. If the moon is not seen in the Caribbean, East Coast or the Midwest, the committee will wait to hear from the West Coast (whose sunset is around 10:30 PM CDT) before making a final decision.
