Eid Mubarak!

The moon was sighted in multiple locations across the U.S (Tampa, Florida / Teaneck, New Jersey and others) on Thursday, June 14th (Ramadan 29, 1439). As such, Ramadan 1439 completes with 29 days and Shawwal begins at Maghrib on Thursday, June 14, 2018.

The 1st of Shawwal (Eid ul Fitr) will be Friday, June 15, 2018.

May Allah ﷻ accept all of your ibadah during this blessed month of Ramadan.

6/14/2018:

The Chicago Hilal Committee will meet on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 (Ramadan 29, 1439) to determine the start of Shawwal 1439 (Eid-ul-Fitr).

If the moon is sighted on Thursday night within North America or Chile in South America, the 1st of Shawwal (Eid-ul-Fitr) will be Friday, June 15, 2018.

If the moon is not sighted on Thursday night, Ramadan will complete its course of 30 days and Shawwal (Eid-ul-Fitr) will begin on Saturday, June 16, 2018.

The first updates are expected to occur around 7:30 PM CDT. Updates will be made periodically throughout the evening as representatives across North America and Chile are contacted. If the moon is not seen in the Caribbean, East Coast or the Midwest, the committee will wait to hear from the West Coast (whose sunset is around 10:30 PM CDT) before making a final decision.
